At the heart of CNNs story, is the Garden’s use of facial recognition to bar attorneys entrance to Knicks and Rangers games.

Originally intended as a security measure to protect its patrons of concerts and sporting events from criminals or violent fans formerly banned for assault reasons, using facial technology in such an unorthodox way has caused a huge backlash as well as intense media, legal and government scrutiny over the potential privacy overreach and possible discrimination and civil rights violations.
