Davidoff In-Studio for Upcoming PBS American Experience

September 6, 2024 – Firm Founder, and Chair of the Government Relations practice, Sid Davidoff was recently in-studio for an upcoming episode of PBS’s American Experience.

In his three-hour interview, Sid shared many insights into his time in Mayor John V. Lindsay’s administration, who he was a personal close friend and political advisor to. Through his unique storytelling, affability, and amazing memory Sid provided clarity as to some of the day-to-day happenings during one of the most tumultuous times in the city’s history.

As an assistant to the Mayor, Sid was a personal witness and instrumental in directing what happened on the streets of Manhattan and the Boroughs during the transit workers, sanitation workers, and teachers strikes, the hard hat riot (a clash with anti-Vietnam protestors), the takeover of Lincoln Hospital in the South Bronx, Mayor Lindsay’s famous walk on the streets of Harlem the night of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King’s assassination, the Amazing 1969 Mets and NASA astronauts moonwalk ticker tape parades and the now famous Golda Meier visit.

For nearly 40 years, the American Experience series has been the signature broadcast provider of documentaries that have chronicled some of individuals’ most dramatic moments and significant contributions to American history.

Combining dramatic re-enactments with commentary by historians and authors, the series presents an absorbing look at the personalities, events, and resources that have profoundly impacted the shaping of America’s past and present.

Many of the program’s documentaries have received major honors in the broadcasting community, including Emmy, Peabody, and duPont-Columbia University awards, and has launched the careers of filmmaker brothers Ric and Ken Burns, among others.

Stay tuned for updates when this episode will air.
