CLIENT SPOTLIGHT: HPPM Awarded $110M Federal Grant

DHC's Client HPPM Awarded $110M Federal Grant

October 23, 2022 – Arthur Goldstein, Sid Davidoff and Jonathan McCollum, teamed up and worked closely with our client, Hunts Point Produce Market (HPPM) as well as key government officials and agencies including US Senate Majority Leader Chuck SchumerNYC Mayor Eric Adams, NYC Economic Development Corporation and the Teamsters Local 202, in a successful effort to secure a $110 million Infrastructure for Rebuilding America grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Hunts Point Produce Market is a crucial component of New York City’s food distribution network, supplying 60 percent of the City’s fresh produce and employing thousands of New Yorkers to facilitate the distribution of over 2.5 billion pounds of produce to New York City and the surrounding metropolitan region each year.

With this new grant, the market will be able to begin to upgrade its facilities in ways that improve the environment, public health and quality of life in the surrounding community.

The upgrades will result in an approximately 1 million-square-foot, state-of-the-art intermodal freight facility that is compliant with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s new Food Safety Modernization Act.

The funds will expand refrigerated warehouse space and pallet capacity, improve traffic patterns and facilitate increased rail usage, among other benefits.
