October 26, 2023 (Brownsville, Brooklyn) – Deputy Brooklyn Borough President, Reverend Kimberly Council was the Special Guest Reader at the FirstStepNYC Early Childhood Education Center for SCO Family of Services Read for the Record series.

This annual event brings together millions of adults and children to read the same book on the same day and raise awareness about the importance of early literacy.

The event was observed at several SCO Early Childhood Education Centers in Brooklyn and Queens.

This year’s book selection was “With Lots of Love”, a story about family and connection, written by Jenny Torres Sanchez.

DHC was represented by Melissa Chapman-Samad, Associate Director of Government Relations.
