Charles Capetanakis is an attorney-accountant and Partner who practices in the Real Estate Law, Trusts & Estates Law, Government Relations, Commercial Litigation and Economic Development & Tax Incentives law practice groups for the New York City law firm of Davidoff Hutcher & Citron LLP.  His litigation work concentrates on civil and white-collar crime, including securities arbitrations and investigations.  Mr. Capetanakis is also a Certified Public Accountant.

  • Law clerk to the Honorable Jose A. Gonzalez, Jr., now Senior United States District Court Judge for the Southern District of Florida (1989 to 1991)  Elected to New York City’s Board of Education (District 20) Community School Board (1993, 1996, 1999)
  • Chairman NYC Board of Education (1994-97 and 1999-2000)
  • Candidate for State Senate (2000)
  • Nominated a member of the New York State Project Finance Agency by NYS Governor George E. Pataki (2001) and promoted to Vice-Chairman of the Agency (2003)
  • Appointed Commissioner to the New York City Redistricting Commission by NYC Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg (2002)
  • Nominated a member of the New York State Municipal Bond Bank Agency and Tobacco Settlement Financing Corporation by NYS Governor George E. Pataki (2005)
  • Founder and is the present Chairman of the Hellenic Classical Charter School, Brooklyn, New York (HCCS)
  • HCCS’s contract approved by New York City Department of Education in June 2004, and HCCS’s Charter approved by New York State Department of Education in February 2005.

Mr. Capetanakis holds a Bachelor of Science degree from New York University where he was President of the Student Body and received numerous honors, and a Juris Doctors’ degree from the Fordham University School of Law, where he was a member of the Moot Court Board and the Environmental Law Report.
