September 1, 2023 – Jonathan McCollum, Chair of the Federal Government Relations practice spoke to the Huffington Post for their article “Biden’s New SAVE Plan Could Cut Your Student Loan Payments by Hundreds. But Do You Qualify?” about the Biden Administration’s latest plan designed to help overburdened student loan holders.

Calling the recent US Supreme Court ruling that struck down the Biden Administration’s original student loan forgiveness plan a blow to over 45 million borrowers, McCollum said that the Higher Education Act of 1965 provided the SAVE Plan more protection and called it a more legally sound option.

McCollum cautioned readers that the SAVE Plan is up against a bevy of future legal challenges, and it may be some time before borrowers get the full relief they’re waiting for.
