Helen Keller National Center Takes DeafBlind Advocacy to Capitol Hill

Washington, D.C. – HKNC representatives, joined by DHC’s Jonathan McCollum and Jake Roach, meet with U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, Chairman of the Senate HELP Committee, to advocate for expanded support for DeafBlind individuals nationwide.

April 28, 2026 – Representatives from the Helen Keller National Center (HKNC) were in Washington, D.C. recently, meeting with Members of Congress to highlight the critical services they provide to DeafBlind individuals across the country. During their visit, the group met with Bill Cassidy, Chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee, to discuss the growing need for workforce development and specialized support for this underserved community.

HKNC has been a valued client of Davidoff Hutcher & Citron (DHC) for decades, and the firm has played a key role in helping double HKNC’s annual federal appropriation over the past ten years. As the only national organization providing comprehensive vocational and rehabilitation services for DeafBlind youth and adults, HKNC continues to advocate for increased federal support to expand access, strengthen the workforce pipeline, and ensure individuals can live and work independently in communities nationwide.
