May 30, 2026 – Thank you to NYC Council Member Shanel Thomas-Henry, for delivering an uplifting keynote address at SCO Family of Services’ Foster Parent Appreciation Brunch. The event was held at SCO’s Ottilie Residential Treatment Facility and paid tribute to these key caregivers that change lives every day because of their willingness to open their homes and hearts to foster kids. SCO is the largest nonprofit human services provider in the region and the largest foster care provider in New York State, with locations across New York City and Long Island.

“Strong communities are built by people who choose to show up for one another, especially when it’s difficult; and that is exactly what foster parents do every single day,” said Council Member Thomas-Henry. “Organizations like SCO play a critical role in supporting children and families; but none of this work is possible without all of you (foster parents),” she added.
