November 18, 2024 – Louis J. Coletti, Senior Adviser to the Government Relations and Construction Law practices was appointed by NYC Mayor Eric Adams to the Minority-and-Women-Owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) Advisory Council. This council, which includes prominent business, civic, and advocacy leaders, is a cornerstone of Mayor Adams’ vision to create equitable opportunities for minority- and women-owned businesses in New York City.

This appointment comes on the heels of a historic milestone for the Adams administration, which celebrated back-to-back record-breaking years in supporting MWBEs. In Fiscal Year 2024 (FY24), the city awarded $6.4 billion in MWBE contracts, marking a 31.2% utilization rate — the highest in the program’s history. This achievement is part of the administration’s ambitious OneNYC goal of awarding $25 billion in MWBE contracts by FY26.

The MWBE Advisory Council, chaired by Chief Business Diversity Officer Michael J. Garner, includes co-chairs William Thompson, former New York City Comptroller, and Elizabeth Velez, Chairperson Emeritus of the New York Building Congress. The council’s mission is to advance progress in city contracting and ensure the continued growth and success of MWBEs across diverse industries.

With this appointment, Coletti joins an esteemed roster of leaders dedicated to fostering a more inclusive and equitable economy. The council will provide strategic guidance to the Adams administration as it continues to break records and deliver meaningful support for MWBEs.
