Capetanakis Named to Brooklyn Power 100 by City & State
February 9, 2026 – Charles Capetanakis, Partner in the Real Estate Law, Trusts & Estates Law, Government Relations, Commercial Litigation and Economic Development & Tax Incentives law practice groups, was selected by City & State Magazine as one of the Brooklyn Power 100.
A lifelong Brooklynite, Charles has been involved in many areas of the Borough’s legal, political, and business scene.
Charles has played an integral role in many of Brooklyn’s major land use projects, including the development of the Coney Island Amphitheater. He remains highly active in Brooklyn’s legal community, with extensive experience practicing in Federal, State, and Surrogate’s Court.
As a lobbyist, Charles has successfully advanced numerous land use initiatives and has been instrumental in securing funding for respected institutions such as St. Francis College and The HOPE Program.
His civic involvement spans decades. He served on District 20’s School Board for nine years, including six years as President. He later became the Lead Applicant and now serves as Board Chair of the Hellenic Classical Charter School, a pre-K through 8 National Blue Ribbon School where Greek and Latin are taught and classical studies are woven throughout the curriculum. Charles was also a candidate for the New York State Senate and was appointed by Michael Bloomberg to the NYC Redistricting Commission. In addition, George Pataki appointed him to serve on the NYS Project Finance Agency, the NYS Municipal Bond Bank Agency, and the NYS Tobacco Finance Settlement Agency.
