Matthew Harnisch is a dedicated commercial and appellate litigator who brings a strategic, results-driven approach to his practice. Leveraging his sharp analytical skills and ability to anticipate potential issues, Matthew helps clients navigate complex legal challenges across a wide range of industries. His proactive problem-solving saves clients valuable time and resources, ensuring their legal needs are met efficiently and effectively.
Matthew also maintains an active campaign finance and election law practice.
Before joining the firm, Matthew served as an Assistant District Attorney in Queens County, where he played a pivotal role during the COVID-19 pandemic crime surge. In this capacity, he honed his litigation skills by arguing before the Appellate Division of the New York State Supreme Court on multiple occasions, spearheading investigations, and successfully conducting both jury and bench trials.
Prior to his tenure at the District Attorney’s office, Matthew was a Senior Legal Fellow in the Office of the General Counsel for the New York State Office of the Attorney General, led by the Honorable Letitia James. There, he directed special investigations and shaped both litigation and strategic initiatives for the office. He served in both the Investor Protection Bureau and Executive Division.
While in law school, Matthew was a judicial intern for the Honorable Nicholas G. Garaufis of the US District Court of the Eastern District of New York and served on the executive board of the Journal of Civil Rights and Economic Development. He received the Public Service Award at graduation for his commitment to pro bono endeavors.
Matthew’s diverse experience extends beyond the legal sector. He worked with the Honorable Joseph F. Crowley in the U.S. House of Representatives and gained valuable financial expertise at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, Legg Mason, and Stifel.
A proud native of New York City, Matthew is a graduate of Colgate University.
