Dimitra Tzortzatos is a seasoned litigator representing individuals, business owners, and companies in complex commercial, matrimonial, and family law matters throughout New York City and Long Island. Prior to rejoining Davidoff Hutcher & Citron LLP as a partner, Ms. Tzortzatos operated a successful New York City law practice for more than thirteen years, following her earlier tenure with the firm’s Commercial Litigation Department, where she handled complex business litigation and intellectual property litigation.
Ms. Tzortzatos concentrates her practice on high-stakes litigation involving commercial disputes, business dissolutions, real estate litigation, contract matters, divorce actions, custody disputes, child support proceedings, and related family law matters.
Her commercial litigation experience spans a broad range of industries, including real estate, manufacturing, electronics, fashion and apparel design, and intellectual property. Over the course of her career, she has represented clients in both state and federal courts. She is known for her direct and assertive litigation style, as well as her ability to guide clients through challenging legal disputes with clarity and focus.
Ms. Tzortzatos’ matrimonial and family law practice includes the representation of clients in complex divorce proceedings involving contested custody issues, equitable distribution disputes, business valuation issues, support litigation, and post-judgment enforcement and modification proceedings. Her practice frequently involves the intersection of business, financial, and matrimonial law issues.
Drawing upon her extensive litigation background, Ms. Tzortzatos is particularly skilled in handling highly contested matrimonial matters requiring strategic motion practice, financial analysis, and strong courtroom advocacy. Ms. Tzortzatos earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from New York Law School in 2005 and was admitted to practice in New York since 2006. She is also admitted to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. She is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the New York City Bar Association, Queens County Bar Association, Queens County Women’s Bar Association and Hellenic Lawyers Association. - Represented one of the nation’s largest cable television/internet service providers in the acquisition of multiple cable systems.
Lobbyist Matters:
- Helped secure over $25 million in contract awards from various state agencies in two years on behalf of a construction management firm.
- Advocated for and secured the selection of a casino to be located in Sullivan County, a process with limited licenses available on behalf of an industrial development agency.
- Liaised with clients and Government to remain open, viable and sustainable during the Covid pandemic, assisted with regulations and orders to keep businesses operational, such as golf courses, salons, and amusement parks.
- Authored a law on behalf of a NY racing entity that leveled the playing field and protected NYS racing interests from unfair competition from out-of-state companies; the law has led to over $8 million annually being collected by the State and distributed among in-state racing interests.
