Deidre M. Baker is an attorney for Davidoff Hutcher & Citron’s Trusts & Estates, Elder Law and Litigation group in their New York City office.

Deidre concentrates her efforts on guardianship proceedings, asset protection planning, Medicaid applications, estate administration, and drafting various estate planning documents for our clients. Deidre is frequently selected for court appointments pursuant to Part 36 of the Rules of the Chief Judge of the New York State Unified Court System. These appointments include serving as Court Evaluator, Counsel for the Guardian, Counsel for the Alleged Incapacitated Person, and Guardian Ad Litem in estate proceedings.

Deidre has presented to numerous groups on topics ranging from elder law and estate planning to Medicaid planning techniques

She has been working in firms specializing in trusts and estates, as well as elder law, since 2010.

REPRESENTATIVE TRANSACTIONAL MATTERS

  • Preserved significant client assets while still qualifying for nursing home Medicaid through the calculation and preparation of a promissory note;
  • Avoided Medicaid estate recovery by funding a trust for the benefit of client with title to his home;
  • Represented client in Medicaid fair hearing in order to achieve split-shift, 24-hour care;
  • Represented executor in probate and accounting proceedings;
  • Represented client in her appointment as guardian of the person and property for her mother who was suffering from dementia
