NAMC NY Tri-State Hosts Unity Power Breakfast with DDC Commissioner Ochoa
September 17, 2026 — The National Association of Minority Contractors (NAMC) NY Tri-State Chapter hosted its Unity Power Breakfast earlier today, bringing together contractors, industry leaders, and public agency representatives for a conversation on the future of New York City’s construction industry.
The event featured Paul A. Ochoa, Commissioner of the NYC Department of Design and Construction, as the keynote speaker. Discussion centered on upcoming opportunities in the city’s construction pipeline and the importance of public-private collaboration in expanding access for minority contractors.
Ochoa joined NYC’s Department of Transportation in 2022 as Executive Deputy Commissioner, where he oversaw a $1.5 billion expense budget and a $34 billion 10-year capital plan before his current role at DDC.
The breakfast is part of NAMC’s ongoing effort to strengthen ties between the public sector and minority-owned construction firms across the region.
