August 11, 2026 – Members of the DHC’s Government Relations team traveled to Port Washington, New York, for a day of strategic discussion and an in-depth tour of Helen Keller National Center’s remarkable campus. The visit offered valuable insight into the full scope of services the Center provides to individuals who are DeafBlind, from rehabilitation and vocational training to community support programs.
We extend our sincere gratitude to CEO Sue Ruzenski, Executive Director John Filek, Chief of Programs Jeff Kunkel, Associate Executive Director Elizabeth Meade, and the entire dedicated team at Helen Keller National Center for their warm hospitality and the thoughtful, informative guidance they provided throughout the visit. Their commitment to serving the DeafBlind community continues to be a source of inspiration, and we look forward to building on this partnership in the work ahead.
