March 20, 2020 – Here are some important updates for businesses. We understand that many businesses are looking for clarifications on many of these directives. We are working on getting those answers for you. The situation remains extremely fluid and is changing on a day to day basis.

Per Governor Cuomo’s announcement today, all businesses that are not deemed essential and, therefore, exempt are now required to have 100% of their employees work from home (100% WFH Rule). Based on the pattern these closures are taking, we would suggest that any essential business that has not already scaled back in-office personnel try as hard as they can to do so because it is likely it will be mandated on some level in the near future. The 100% WFH Rule takes effect beginning Sunday evening at 8pm. Here is the link to full guidance including exempt, essential businesses: https://esd.ny.gov/guidance-executive-order-2026

In addition, NY, CT, NJ, and PA will temporarily close all barber shops, nail & hair salons, tattoo shops, & similar services in our four states effective tomorrow at 8PM.

Governor Cuomo is postponing evictions both residential and commercial for 90 days.

State Income tax filings will mirror Federal change and be postponed to July 15th. Business Sales tax late payments will have late penalties and interest waived

In addition, Governor Cuomo sent out an urgent message for the need for manufacturers of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). NYS will pay a premium for (PPE). Governor Cuomo has asked companies to get creative on production in order to meet PPE needs. Governor is looking at state production as well. Closed medical offices have been asked to offer their PPE and to donate ventilators to needed areas. Governor cannot mandate, but will offer financial incentives – Companies that can help should contact the state.

– For Funding to start up PPE Production – 212-803-3100

– For Sales – 646-522-8477

As always, if you need further information or help regarding helping NYS meet these PPE demands, please do not hesitate to contact us.
