Lauren J. Sakofsky is an Associate in the Divorce & Family Law practice located in midtown Manhattan.  Lauren focuses her practice on all areas of family and matrimonial law, including divorce, child custody and support, spousal support, equitable distribution, and post-judgment matters, as well as prenuptial and postnuptial agreements.  Lauren brings her strong attention to detail and analytical skills to each case, while providing empathy and support to clients during what can be one of the most difficult and emotional times in their lives.  Recognizing that every client and situation is unique, Lauren tailors her approach to each case based on the individual needs of the client.

Receiving her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law and her B.S. in Human Development from Cornell University, Lauren was drawn to family law by her interest in psychology and family relationships, and her desire to work with clients on a personal level.  While in law school, she participated in Fordham’s Family Advocacy Clinic, and served on the executive board of the Domestic Violence Action Center, where she partnered with Sanctuary for Families on the Courtroom Advocates Project and volunteered with WomensLaw.org.

After law school, Lauren briefly worked at NYLAG in the Special Education Unit, where she advocated on behalf of students with special needs, before entering the practice of family and matrimonial law.  Prior to joining DHC, Lauren practiced at boutique matrimonial firms in Manhattan where she gained experience counseling high net worth clients.

Lauren is a member of the New York State Bar Association (Family Law Section and Young Lawyers Section), the New York Women’s Bar Association (Matrimonial and Family Law Committee), and the New York City Bar Association, where she serves on the Career Advancement & Management Committee.
