DHC’s Michael Zapson Secures Important Approval Step for Affordable Housing Project in Manhasset
In a unanimous vote, the North Hempstead Town Board approved a change of zone to accommodate a new senior affordable-housing project in Manhasset. DHC’s Long Island Managing Attorney, Michael Zapson, represents the developer of this 72-unit senior affordable housing project. The complex will be built on the Mt. Olive Baptist Church property on Community Drive and High Street.
The approved site has previously been contaminated with metals, lead and arsenic, but Zapson says that redeveloping the area goes beyond cleaning up the contamination. The property will now be able to generate tax revenue for the town, county and school district because the church, which currently owns the site, had enjoyed a tax-exempt status.
